When you only need a handful of pages

Long documents usually hold a few pages that matter to one particular reader: the signature page of a contract, one chapter of a manual, the slides a colleague asked about, a single invoice from a monthly export. Sending the whole file makes them hunt for it. Extracting those pages gives them a short file with only what they need.

How to extract specific pages

  1. Open your PDF and note the positions of the pages you want from the viewer's page counter.
  2. Choose the file above.
  3. List the pages separated by commas, e.g. 2,7,15. Ranges such as 20-24 work too.
  4. Press Run to download the new PDF.

Use the page position, not the printed number

This is the most common mistake. Many documents number their pages differently from the PDF itself. A book might have twelve pages of cover, contents and preface, numbered i to xii, before printed page 1. In that file, printed page 1 is actually PDF page 13.

The tool counts from the first page of the file, as your PDF viewer's page counter does. Before typing your selection, go to the page you want and read the number from the viewer's toolbar (for example "13 / 240"), not from the page footer.

Getting pages in the right order

Pages are saved in the order you type them. 2,7,15 keeps the original order, while 15,2,7 puts page 15 first. That lets you extract and reorder in one step, for example to put a signature page ahead of the terms it signs. To work visually instead, Organize Pages shows a thumbnail of every page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I extract a single page?

Yes. Type just that number, for example 7.

What if I type a page that does not exist?

Pages past the end of the document are skipped and the other pages are still extracted.

Are bookmarks kept?

The page content, with its text and images, is copied exactly. The document's bookmarks (the outline panel) are not carried over, because they usually point to pages that are no longer in the file.

Can I make several files at once?

Each run creates one PDF. Run it again with a different selection for each file, or use Split into Pages (ZIP) to cut the whole document into equal parts.

Is this tool really free?

Yes. It is free with no signup, no watermark and no daily limits.
