Share less of your financial life

Landlords, mortgage brokers, visa offices and employers often ask for "a recent bank statement" when what they really need is the summary page: your name, address, account number and closing balance. A full monthly statement can run to ten pages or more and list every purchase, transfer and payee. Sending all of it hands over far more personal information than the request needs.

This page uses the same extractor as our Extract PDF Pages tool to build a new PDF with only the pages you choose. The statement is read from your device, the new file is saved back to your device, and nothing is sent to a server, including ours.

How to extract bank statement pages

  1. Download the statement PDF from your online banking.
  2. Open it in any PDF viewer and note the pages you need, for example the summary on page 1 and the closing balance on page 4.
  3. Choose the file above and type those pages, e.g. 1,4.
  4. Press Run, then open the downloaded file and check it before you send it.

Which pages to keep

Proof of address: usually page 1 alone, which shows your name, address and the statement date.

Proof of income or funds: the summary page plus the page that shows the deposits or the balance in question.

Rental or mortgage applications: ask whether summary pages are enough. Many lenders accept them, but some underwriters need the complete statement. It is better to ask than to send everything by default.

What extraction hides, and what it does not

Pages you leave out are not hidden or greyed out. They are simply not in the new file, so nobody can recover them from it. The new PDF also does not carry over the original document's title and author properties.

Extraction works on whole pages. If a page you keep shows a full account number or a transaction you would rather not share, extraction will not black it out. Ask whether a masked number is acceptable, and use a proper redaction tool for that page if it is.

If the statement is password protected

Some banks protect statement PDFs with a password, often your date of birth or part of your account number. If the tool reports an error or the result has blank pages, open the statement with its password in your PDF viewer, save or print it to a new unprotected PDF, and use that copy here.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use an online tool for a bank statement?

With most online PDF tools your file is uploaded to a remote server. Here it is not: the page loads the PDF libraries once and all the work runs on your own device. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.

Will the recipient know pages were removed?

The new file is a normal PDF with fewer pages. Statements often print "Page 1 of 6" in the footer, so a recipient can tell the original was longer. That is normal, and it is fine to say you sent the relevant pages only.

Can I combine pages from several months?

Yes. Extract the pages you need from each statement, then join the results with the Merge PDF tool.

Does this change my original statement?

No. The original file is only read. You get a new download and the original stays exactly as it was.

Is this tool really free?

Yes. It is free with no signup, no watermark and no daily limits.
