Frequently asked questions
How strong is the protection?
The PDF is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest standard PDF encryption (revision 6), which Adobe Acrobat, browsers and modern apps open. The length of the password matters most: use at least 12 characters.
What do the restrictions do?
They tell PDF readers not to allow printing, copying or editing. Mainstream readers obey them, but they are a rule rather than a lock, so the open password is what keeps the content private.
I forgot the password. Can you recover it?
No. The password never reaches us, so nobody can recover it. Keep it somewhere safe.
Is this tool really free?
Yes. It is free with no signup, no watermark and no daily limits.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
